Puzzles! The classic family table activity. Our family always put together puzzles at the beach during the summer. It's been a while since I shopped for puzzles, but there are all kinds, and they range in price, but the one linked here seemed like the right mix of difficulty, time, and cool finishing project.
Adult Coloring Books
I really did not know how popular something like this would be. When my wife brought this up, I didn't really know how it would go over or if it would be a valued gift. When this gift got there, my aunt sent me a picture. The picture was of my uncle diving into the coloring book as soon as it arrived. This was the perfect gift.
You need colored pencils or crayons for your coloring book! This was another good compliment to these gifts. The link has options for all kinds of sizes and packs, depending on your budget. There is nothing better than some awesome colored pencils.
My aunt is fond of Tootsie Rolls, so we tried to get those to her. If you know your family member's favorite candy, a bag can be a great gift idea. This was true for us when we were putting together a pack of gifts compared to one or two more significant gifts.
Need inspiration?Something off the bestsellers list would make a lovely gift. To know it is on the bestseller list also gives an additional connection to things outside of the retirement home living.
The traditional games such as chess, checkers, and backgammon came to mind as something my aunt and uncle could play. Many different kinds of those can be found through Amazon. Here's a link to a three in one set.
Get your loved one a bird feeder that will allow them to see the neighborhood birds up close. Made of transparent acrylic, you can really get a good look at the birds that come by to nibble on a bite to eat. This feeder makes bird watching easy and fun. The best bit is you don't have to leave your home at all to enjoy bird watching. Bring the birds to you.
Folding Laptop Desk
A folding laptop desk can be used for multiple purposes. Your elderly loved one can use it as a laptop stand, breakfast table, extra bed tray, bookstand, and so much more. Plus, to make things even better, there is a storage spot underneath the desktop. This is a perfect place to put those colored pens and pencils we talked about earlier.
Getting your loved one in a retirement home footrest is a great idea. Footrests are high for reading, relaxing, and napping in your favorite chair. Footrests are known to be comfortable and practical. They have many uses. Give the gift of relaxation.

If your loved one enjoys tea, chances are that getting them a luxury tea gift box will make them very happy. This box comes with 81 of the finest teas. It is the ultimate tea collection. We are going through rough times right now, and there's nothing like a good cup of tea to soothe your worries.
Sometimes it is hard to remember to do things. Especially for those living in a retirement home. I know my aunt loves to make lists so, I thought this notebook might be an excellent gift for her. That is why it is on this list. Sometimes, it's nice to have a place to jot all your thoughts, notes, messages, and to-do lists.
